Masy Systems will be sponsoring the New England Chapter of the PDA's facility tour of Lonza Biologics in Portsmouth, NH.  The topics of the dinner meeting will be "PDA TR45: Filtration of Liquids Using Cellulose-Based Depth Filters" and "Depth Filtration for Large Scale Cell Culture Processes".

The purpose of Technical Report No. 45 is to provide guidelines for the selection, validation, and use of cellulose-based depth filters in biopharmaceutical applications. A summary will be presented of the information included in this guidance document as well as highlight physical and performance characteristics of cellulose-based depth filter media in sheet, lenticular module and capsule formats. Scott Anderson served on the TR-45 task force and co-authored the report. He is a graduate of University of Oregon with 15 years experience in the sales and marketing of filtration products and systems. He currently serves as Pall’s global product manager for Seitz depth filter products.

Lonza Presentation: Depth Filtration For Large Scale Cell Culture Processes. Pranav Desai has over 10 years experience in the biotech industry in the development, scale up and manufacturing of proteins, antibodies and viral vaccines. Pranav is a graduate of University of Baroda, Baroda, India. He has previously worked for Chiron, Serum Institute of India, ID Biomedical, and GlaxoSmithKline. In his current role, he is responsible for process transfer and scale up of cell culture processes at the Lonza Biopharmaceuticals facility in Portsmouth, NH.
